Since February, locals have been gathering every Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the corner of Church Street and Bloomfield Avenue to protest the Trump administration’s policies. This Saturday, more residents are expected to join protesters around the country in a coordinated day of protest as part of the Hands Off! initiative.
Three local protests are planned for Saturday, April 5. They will take place at Brookdale Park in Montclair, Bloomfield’s Municipal Plaza, and the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue in Glen Ridge.
The Hands Off! protests are a response to what organizers describe as the destructive impact of the Trump administration on the government and economy. These Hands Off! protests aim to make a significant impact on local and national levels.
“Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. They’re taking everything they can get their hands on, and daring the world to stop them. On Saturday, April 5th, we’re taking to the streets nationwide to fight back with a clear message: Hands off!”
The initiative, which emphasizes nonviolent action, was launched by Indivisible. The national grassroots organization focuses on resisting policies it views as harmful, advocating for progressive change, and electing local leaders who align with those values.
