Maybe it’s because all of the local schools will finally be open today, there seems to be a hush in the Baristaville air this morning, or is that a buzz, as work/stay-at-home parents exhale and get busy, or get a cup of coffee and enjoy a few minutes of not being busy.
Meanwhile, over the last few days a celeb came to town to stump for a Democratic candidate, a pretty glitzy follow-up to a Jersey baker who stood up for his governor. The Giants lost their season opener to one of their most hated adversaries, and was that same certain governor rooting against his hometown team? The Jets won by a point, after their coach pleaded for some fan love. The Wellmont re-opened. In Bloomfield, the sky was falling (okay, it just seemed that way). And a new report says poverty in our state is the highest since the 1950s.
And if none of that interests you, tell us what does. What’s percolating around Baristaville this morning and grabbing your attention?

Staying safe & healthy getting from point A to point B.
All the anti-war protests on Church St.!! Especially the one that read: “Missiles sent from a Nobel Peace Prize winner is STILL an act of war.”
Oh, wait. I’m sorry. There have been no protests because Missiles sent from Democrats are never acts of war.
JUST PLAYING AROUND…..
I love all the students waiting for buses with their Summer Projects in hand. Summer Projects? That’s just cruel.
Not happy with the noise from all the school busses, but kids in new “school clothes” still makes me smile.
I would love to know if Walleroo washed that pink shirt for the new school year. And how about Serena?
I believe the big W has been sent on a humanitarian project by Doctors Without Borders to remove a brain tumor from Bashar Assad. Pray for his safe return.
Wow, PAZ…. Is this the kind of witty replies we can look forward to this new B-net season?
I hope not. Didn’t you use your Summer break to recharge, read up, and study so you could come back with something worthwhile?
Or were you just chuggin’ brewski’s down at Bar A in Belmar?
– Hoping we stay far away from Syria. (Obama don’t screw this up)
– Hoping the Fed begins to taper. (inflation at the expense of retirees is not ok)
– Hoping that market continues to rally hard under Obama, huge returns since he has been in office and right or wrong he deserves credit for that. (Im ok ignoring the fact that NFPs are still weak and most of the new jobs being added are part time or min wage jobs). Rally on.
I went down the shore over the weekend and it was still summer. It was hot, the pool in my complex was open, people were swimming…So I’m still clinging to the breezy days of summer where I don’t worry about other stuff…SO THERE!
I do know that I can’t hold on forever.
Ahhhhhh so that was Christie that I saw watching the game last night. Ya gotta love him for no other reason then he has the courage of his convictions!!
Sitting next to a pompous ass and general swine like Jerry Jones has nothing to do with either courage or convictions.
And given the rates of poverty in our state cited in the article above, you’d think he’d have some work to do back home.
But he makes people feel good you know, which is all it takes for some.
So Dag T — Will Chris Christie give a speech about Man and Fire in a court of law, like Howard Roark did, so as to snag the Ayn Rand / Rand Paul Fan Club vote? Or will he demand home schooling for his kin and dis Darwin while chowing down out Paula Deen recipes to snag the Ol’ South? Or, perhaps he’ll advocate for “Nation Building” abroad to rope in the last of the NeoCons. It should be interesting to watch him attempt all three at once. This is one unstable 3-legged stool he’s trying to sit on. My Tea Party cousin down in Georgia thinks he doesn’t have a chance outside the Northeast. But, I agree, he is popular here in NJ. Stay tuned.
As ever, Spiro, you dwell in witlessness. And at the very depths too. Perhaps someday, if we’re lucky, our beloved governor will sit on you and turn you into a whining and whingy crepe.
Spiro he’s no Randian. But I’d rather him then our current wishy-washy, please love me, leader of the free world!! When Christie paints a red line he means it. Yes, it will be fun to watch if he moves to a national stage.
Cathar tell me how you really feel. I believe it was Roger Starbach not Jones who provided the seats. And too, since my nephew sports a cowboy’s super bowl ring, well, I can be with Christie on this one too.
Now back to WWF 🙂
Gmar Chatima Tovah, cathar. I know September is a dry month, in terms of precipitation, but you should pencil-in some due diligence and probe those perimeter basement drains around your subgrade Barcalounger sometime before winter sets in. Otherwise, you might run the risk of expanding the meaning of “wetting your bed”. And, no doubt, you prefer to keep your powder dry. Especially your Metamucil.

Dag T, nice to hear from you again. We don’t agree with each other when it comes to politics, but I admire your forthrightness and dignity. And how about those property values in Brooklyn Heights?
Why thank you Spiro. And yes, Cranberry Street is mighty fine! If only……
…if only….
“if we’re lucky, our beloved governor will sit on you and turn you into a whining and whingy crepe.”
—i take it then that’s what happened to you, cathar?
Sorry Prof……Don’t have the time off like you tenured types. I’m self-employed, my brains working all the time!….And by the “Big W” I was referring to Walleroo not former Pres. GWB.
I know you love the Jersey shore but I’m more of a long weekend Finger Lakes type kind of guy. To each his own.
