That’s right, it’s that night when we collectively snip an hour of daylight from the early evening and paste it onto the morning hours.
So enjoy your last 5:47 p.m. sunset for a while, and remember to re-set all those clocks in your kitchen, bedroom, car, etc.
On the plus side, sunrise tomorrow is at 6:34 a.m.
How many clocks do you have to re-set? And what will you do with your extra hour?
Clock from Edge Mid-Century Designs, Montclair.

Sure was nice to get that extra hour..Been lounging around reading the Sunday papers…Lovely!
It’s Cher’s annual opportunity to turn back time.
Actually, Boehner and Co. want to turn back time in a rather big way.
We the People voted as we did because of our aching yearning for those wonderfully rosy days, when Leave it to Beaver and Father Knows Best were the cultural icons, martinis and Bing Crosby ruled the roost, marijuana was strictly for those dangerous colored folks, Jews lived in Paterson and Newark, and liberals didn’t yet have the unpatriotic audacity to remind us Real Americans of the nutritional deficiencies found in Wonder Bread or, for that matter, cling peaches or fruit cocktail canned in heavy syrup.
” Jews lived in Paterson and Newark…..”
Spiro, you must be older than I !! I do
faintly recall that. Very
Spiro, you must be older that I.
I very very faintly recall that time.
Newark, yes… But Paterson ?? I did not know that !
Referring to: (Jews lived in Paterson and Newark)
My grandparents settled in East Orange, my parents in
Maplewood, and later into South Orange.
No, I am NOT drunk ! A plane flew over and all the lights in the house blinked and the ‘puter went black for about 12 seconds and then came back on and double printed the beginnig. Now the digital clocks are all blinking.
The extra hour I am supposed to have gained I spent going all around the house tracking down and resetting every device that has a clock in it.
The stove, the microwave, the coffee maker, the wall clock, the phone. And that’s just the kitchen. I even have to reset the clock in the digital camera! Phooey!
Spring forward, Fall down!
Sandy, a plane flew over??
Must have been a UFO to have caused all that interference.
A micro magnetic pulse to screw up your clocks.
Those aliens and their little jokes.
Let’s turn the clock back to the Middle Ages and see if we can learn from our mistakes.
Did they have the Internet back then?
Actually, Sandy, having gone to Syracuse U in the 1970’s , I had a number of Jewish friends
( the school was popular with Jews, apparently ).
One was a fellow named Don whose parents lived in Paterson- they spoke Yiddish at home and drank seltzer out of really thick glass bottles. Don liked to bet on horses.
Another was a fellow named George whose parents lived in Elizabeth. George liked drugs.
I visited both homes back then, although I don’t keep in touch with either person any more.
All of our clocks are on Universal Time and controlled by our Atomic Computer. Nothing can go wrong go wrong go wrong go wrong. (Hmm, Sandy’s plane must have just flow over…)
And the one clock I always forget is the one on the thermostat. I remember it at five the next morning when it is either too hot or too cold, depending on DST on or DST off.
Don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke and CO2 detectors.
