This year Fire Prevention Week is celebrated October 6 – 12. There are many ways to learn more about safety measures for your family.
The Montclair Public Schools, along with Fire Chief Kevin Allen and the Montclair Fire Department department, are encouraged families with older kids to watch the series “Fire Is,” series together during Fire Prevention Week. These video lessons, geared toward students in grades 5, 6 and 7, introduce families and their children to the reality and danger of fire. A five Part Video Series on fire prevention and safety hosted by Dr. Frank Field along with his son Storm and daughter Allison.
Learn the true nature of fire. Fire isn’t like you’ve seen it in movies or on television. This video introduces you to the reality of what fire is really like and why fire safety is so important. While many children may have been introduced to such lessons as don’t play with matches or stop, drop, and roll, this series, created by Dr. Frank Field, offers additional and valuable, life-long lessons of fire safety.
The series is available online here, as well as on public access: TV 33 and 34, Oct 7–11 at 7:30 pm.
Families with younger children can watch this video from the National Fire Protection Association about staying safe in the kitchen:
