It’s very difficult for children to truly understand the pain of others. Going through the hardships our area encountered because of Hurricane Sandy opened many young people’s eyes (and not-so-young people’s, too!) to the difficulties of not having reliable electricity and warmth and routine. Once those conveniences return, we often forget – too soon – the harsh realities that made us promise to be forever grateful. On Veterans Day, it seems appropriate to emphasize the sacrifices and hardships borne by those who have defended our country. A film like Flat Daddy can help.
It can be difficult to explain fully why we honor and celebrate those who fought and sacrificed in the name of our country. Young children especially have a hard time understanding sacrifices they’ve never experienced. That’s one of the reasons that last May, when Flat Daddy screened at the Montclair Film Festival, we loved that it was an accessible film that helped children not directly affected by wars and military activity develop empathy for those who are.
If you missed it during the Montclair Film Festival, we’re happy to let you know that Flat Daddy is now available on iTunes. And just in time for Veterans Day, the film is also available as a Video on Demand, YouTube Rentals, Amazon Instant View, Vudu, and more.
