Scheduled right after kids eat a bunch of Halloween candy, the United Way of North Essex Family Success Center, in partnership with KinderSmile Foundation, will be offering free oral exams, screenings and oral education to area children on Monday, November 15.

Children will receive dental care plus information and referrals to an affiliated dentist and a complete dental kit to keep their teeth healthy.

The KinderSmile Foundation began in 2007 when statistics showed that 55% of children ages 2 to 4, 22% of children ages 5 to 11, and 19% of adolescents ages 12 to 17 had not seen a dentist in the previous year.   In addition, 2 out of every 5 children ages 2 to 12 needed dental care, but did not receive it for economic reasons, and children ages 2 through 5 experienced a 15.2% increase in oral disease over the past 5 years.
