kickdrum.JPGStarting tomorrow, September 24, the Side Door program gets even cooler. School of Rock Montclair will offer free jam sessions at the weekly, afternoon hang out for middle school kids.
“The repertoire will be totally up to the students,” says John Ginty, School of Rock’s music director. “Green Day, Usher, Metallica, Shinedown, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Nirvana, whatever: it’s all good and one of our top musician teachers will get the kids organized and help them to figure the songs out.”
Kids already registered at Side Door can start jamming tomorrow. Kids who aren’t registered need to have their parents fill in a Side Door sign-up form, which they must bring with them tomorrow in order to attend.
The Side Door, a supervised space at Union Congregational Church for socializing, is open to all Montclair middle school students on Fridays from 2:15 pm – 5 pm.
